Funding Letters
The letters are all some what different but have one similarity that sticks throughout which is asking for money. That is an obvious similarity, however there are so many different ways you can ask for money which leads me into the differences of each letter. Down City Design, and United We Dream Action both asked for money in the best ways in my opinion. They stated their information, accomplishments and goals FIRST, and then ended with kindly asking for a donation. This was a great way to ask for the money because after stating all of the great things that the organization has been doing, you can explain how a donation would allow you to keep performing those amazing actions. I thought that International Rescue Committee's letter was so intimidating and pushy. They first started off with asking for money, which I don't think you should ever do because you should always start off with the WHY and work your way out. Why should I give them money if I do not even know where they stand with their organization and changes they are making towards the goal? Instilling fear in people comes across as a desperate way to ask for money and like I said above is intimidating. Also, I am confused why they started off with stating that it was the last day to match your tax deductible?? What does that even mean or have to do with the initial question of asking for a donation. Youth in Actions letter was also well written and nice to look at. They asked for a donation right away in the letter HOWEVER, it is their 20 year anniversary and after stating that they went into the work that they have been doing for years and why it would be beneficial for a donation. I love how they gave real life examples and stated some of their kids names and things they have said about YIA. This gives me a reason to want to donate because I can clearly see what YIA is doing for these kids with their open door to everyone. All of the letters were good except for the International Rescue Committee. I just believe that their letter could use a lot of work on how they ask for their donation and putting more of the great things that they accomplish in it.
